I have been wanting to learn how to shoot star trails for some time. It was a method of photography that I have never tried and what better way then to learn from the master my friend Mike Hensley. Mike Hensley had been watching for clear no moon night and had promised to contact me as soon as the conditions was right. So I received the call on Wednesday evening that the night looked like it was going to be perfect. We went to a spot far enough away from the city light pollution but close enough to get there in a reasonable amount of time. We meet up at Green Bottom West Virginia which is about 15 miles outside of Huntington on Rt 2 along the Ohio River. This image was a collection of about 200 exposures, each at 20 seconds at F2.8. I do not have any meta data for the aperture because I was using Mike Hensley's fisheye lens that you have to manually set the aperture. The ISO was 2000. The total image took about an hour to capture and about two hours to import and combine into Photoshop. Thanks a log Mike. I learned a lot.
